|Bahareh and Farzaneh Safarani are Iranian collaborator twin visual artists. Known primarily for their innovative video-painting and video-performance arts. The two sisters make dramatic compositions of themselves as the subjects to explore to the sense of self in relation to the other.
A major theme that the sisters address is one of identity—as twins, as individuals. In these paintings, which are also self-portraits of the artists, the sisters have related the concept of birth to the concept of creating human feelings, such as: anger, passion, revenge and peace. In every human’s life these kinds of feelings start to be planted at some point, and every day they are being fed by things that happens in life. Among all humans, women's feelings are the strongest and their decision to give birth to those feeling matter the most. The color red that the sisters have used in this painting represent the womb.
