Artist Statement
My acrylic paintings are a thought-provoking mixture of abstraction, repetition, and improvisation. My lines adhere to rules of geometry: mathematically sensible angles, and shapes that work together perfectly. My work breaks out of the ordinary is in the little vignettes and flashes of color that I allow to peek through the pattern. My art is large-scale both in physical size and in the volume of information they contain. The hues are saturated and pure and the juxtaposition of colors is aided by the application of bold brushstrokes. Bright colors are made brighter and strong shapes are made stronger in combination with an unexpected element. Patterns play out countless times. The effect is to invigorate the entire work, and to surprise and delight the viewer.
