I am a Canadian/American artist currently studying at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. My work over the past 10+ years has been primarily two-dimensional with a focus on abstract paintings rooted in the landscape as well as still life and figure charcoal drawing. The tension between realism and abstraction has always been a part of my work. Individual pieces almost always start from observation and then are 'reduced' through abstraction and imagination. Splitting my time between a very remote island in maritime Canada and in-town Boston, MA, my work has also at times focused on the built v. natural environment. |
