|I currently work mostly in printmaking, drawing and mixed-media. I am interested in playing with multiple views in one piece; in many layers; in juggling chaos with comprehension. The prints shown in this sale feature the trace monotype process. In trace monotype, ink is transferred to the paper by placing the paper face down on an inked plate and making marks on the back of the paper. It does not require the use of a printing press. Where you make a mark, the pressure of that touch picks up some ink from the plate. Adding this technique to the life drawing experience (“Body in Motion” series) has added a layer of surprise to the process. After the initial tracing is done, the inked plate holds a reversed or negative version of the image which can be printed to another sheet of paper with a press ("Chalkboard Ghosts" series). Even if the final images seem abstract, they have developed from close observation of and reaction to the figure, and/or the spaces and objects around me.
